kitchen cabinet refinishing serving phoenix, scottsdale, mesa, chandler, gilbert, paradise valley and cave creek.

Refinishing kitchen cabinets could be a more affordable and easy alternative to having to reface them. If your cabinets are just starting to show their age and haven't sustained any real damage, then refinishing them might just be the solution you need. It is also an effective way to give your kitchen a whole new look without having to dig into your savings to take action: most refinishing jobs only cost a hundred or so dollars.

The first faltering step to refinishing kitchen cabinets is taking them off the hinges. This is probably the easiest part of the whole process, but it is nearly impossible to take action with them still hanging up. The reason being you may accidentally incur some damage to other areas of the cabinets, and it is difficult to refinish them with out the finishing liquids drip down and tarnish a floor or your countertops.

When you have taken the doors down it is time to sand them kitchen cabinet refinishing. This can be achieved with sanding paper or perhaps a sanding block, but it is easiest with a mechanical sander. Preferably sanding must certanly be finished with fine-grit paper to ensure the smoothest results possible, but when you have several layers of paint already on the cabinets you might need to go with an increased grade. Be sure you wear safety glasses and a mask in this part due to the possibility to getting wood chips in the mouth area or eyes, which can be dangerous. You're trying to get gone the last finish, so it may take some time.

After getting everything sanded, the next phase in refinishing kitchen cabinets is painting them. You could use either finisher or paint, depending on your own preference. If you're using paint, be sure to apply a coat of primer before to be sure that no previous damage or stains show through the paint. Also be sure to use oil-based paint instead of latex, as oil-based paints have a tendency to dry harder and is likely to be simpler to the touch in the long run.

When you have done every one of the above and hung the cabinet doors back where they belong, you're finally finished with the refinishing process. While it is a tad bit more difficult than having to fully reface them, the reduced price is certainly worth it. The effort and time you'll need to fully and successfully refinish your cabinets could be very tasking, but being able to look at your kitchen and see it look completely new without having to pay over eight hundred dollars is a great feeling. Refinishing kitchen cabinets may be a more labor-intensive way to give your kitchen a make over, but it is the most rewarding once it is all done.
